Who needs a myFC PowerTrekk?

myFC offers instant energy to people who love the value their electronic gadgets give them, but hate being dependent on the electricity grid.

myFC PowerTrekk is the preferred alternative portable power source for outdoor enthusiasts, travelers and other people who spend time away from the grid. myFC PowerTrekk is also the ideal safety kit option, since it gives you access to instant power.

Always have access to power – no matter how far away from the electricity grid you are. Adventure trips, fishing or hunting, climbing, canoeing or hiking are activities that most often take place in remote, undeveloped areas. Today’s outdoor enthusiasts want to stay in touch with the rest of the world, listen to music, be able to make a phone call, send a text message or use a GPS device. The longer you stay away the more likely it is that you will need to charge your phone or other necessary devices several times. With the myFC PowerTrekk you can stay off the beaten track as long as you wish, and still charge your devices. The PowerTrekk is small, lightweight and weather resistant – perfect for any Outdoor situation.

Anyone who travels knows how frustrating it is to look for a power socket in an airport when your phone battery is flat, or how hard it can be to find a dependable electricity supply outside traditional tourist areas. With the myFC PowerTrekk you never need to worry about running out of power, no matter where you are. If you cannot find a socket, use the Fuel cell charger. And for even more convenient power, charge the internal battery inside the PowerTrekk whenever you find electricity. The myFC PowerTrekk can be brought with you on airplanes.

The myFC PowerTrekk is ideal for any emergency situation, when you need power but cannot get access to any. The impact of power outages caused by hurricanes, earth quakes or flooding can be eased tremendously by a myFC PowerTrekk. A great advantage of the myFC Fuel Cell Charger is that it does not need sunlight to work and copes with most bad weather conditions.

It does not need any electricity to charge your phone or other USB-compliant electronic devices.

It is a more reliable power source than most other alternatives. It does not need any sunlight to charge and it does not require to be re-charged in a power socket.

It is small, lightweight, splash proof and easy to bring with you.

It is a green energy solution. We believe this is one of the future ways of producing energy.

It is a unique hybrid solution. The myFC PowerTrekk is equipped with both a fuel cell system and an internal battery. Depending on if you have access to electricity or not you can choose which source to use.

Technical information

myFC PowerTrekk uses  green fuel cell technology, which cleanly and efficiently converts hydrogen into electricity. The ability to simply insert a myFC Puck and add water provides users with instant and limitless power on the go. Unlike solar chargers, fuel cell power is generated quickly (no waiting for sunlight harvesting) and reliably (charging speed not impacted by weather, solar position etc. and no power degradation like with batteries).

At the heart of the myFC PowerTrekk is myFC's proprietary FuelCellSticker technology. Made from foils and adhesives, the FuelCellStickers form a flexible unit, less than 2.75mm thick.

The fuel cell inside myFC PowerTrekk is a completely passive system. Without fans or pumps, the fuel cell silently converts hydrogen into electricity via its Proton Exchange Membrane.
The chemical process is safe, controllable and eco-friendly, and the only bi-product from the fuel cell is a little water vapor. To operate, hydrogen must be supplied to the fuel cell, and the fuel cell must be exposed to air.

myFC PowerTrekk and the myFC Puck meet industry security standards and can be brought on airplanes in the passenger cabin.

A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that transforms the chemical energy of a fuel (hydrogen, methanol, natural gas, gasoline etc.) and an oxidant (air or oxygen) into electrical energy. The fuel and the oxidant react at two different electrodes – the anode and the cathode – and are separated by an electrolyte that transmits ions (e.g. H+, OH- etc.) from one electrode to the other. Fuel cells have many similarities with batteries, but with the fundamental difference that the electrodes are not consumed in the process – a fuel cell will run as long as fuel and an oxidant (air) is provided to the electrodes.

Hydrogen is the lightest and most abundant chemical element on earth. It makes up roughly 75 percent of the universe’s chemical element mass. Today large amounts of hydrogen are used as industry raw material. In the future hydrogen may also play an important role in society’s transition from fossil fuels to renewable alternatives. Hydrogen powered fuel cells can power anything from cars and boats to cell phones and computers. They can also be used to supply electricity and to heat houses.

Hydrogen as an energy carrier is an alternative to fossil fuels and oil. The magnitude of the environmental gains made possible by the use of hydrogen as an energy carrier depend on how the hydrogen is produced and transported, as well as on how efficiently it is transformed.

There are two primary areas where the environmental potential of hydrogen is especially significant: in transportation and as an interim storage of renewable energy. Through the use of hydrogen, together with fuel cell technology, it is possible to achieve a radical decrease in local pollution from carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particles from the transportation sector.

Although production of hydrogen from fossil fuels affects the environment it is an advantage that carbon dioxide emissions can be separated already at the production site. This becomes evident when hydrogen is used as vehicle fuel, avoiding pollution from every individual vehicle.

The only emission from a fuel cell reacting with hydrogen is pure water. The environmental gains are high, provided that pollution in the hydrogen production process is kept low. A fuel cell is approximately twice as energy efficient as a combustion engine if used in a regular car. The effect is that, using the same amount of energy, a fuel cell car can drive twice as far as a car with a combustion engine. Modern batteries show even lower energy loss levels than those of fuel cells, but they need to be recharged and are relatively heavy. Therefore, a combination of batteries and fuel cells can be advantageous in many areas, particularly in vehicles. For example, the reach of a family sized electric car is up to 500-600 kilometers of pollution free driving, since fuel cells recharge the battery while the car is in use.
